September in Piedmont: all the events dedicated to food, wine and traditions

Who said September is a sad month?

Sure, most of us have finished our holidays, our daily routines begin again, our children are back at school, but this doesn't mean we have to give up on outdoor evenings, celebrations, and weekends away. Summer isn't over yet and in fact in many places in Piedmont September means: parties, festivals and events!

Nothing better to lift your spirits after returning to work: below we tell you about the best events that take place this month.

Get your glasses ready, because many of these are events and festivals related to wine, one of the glories of Piedmontese tradition. Do you have paper and pen to write down the dates?

The first to mention among the Events in Piedmont in September is the Monferrato wine festival, which takes place on the two central weekends of September, in Casale Monferrato.

The program is rich and varied and ranges from tastings, exhibitions and concerts. Unmissable!

The second weekend of September is also the time of the grape festival in Gattinara, a village in the Vercelli area famous for its DOC red wine. Open cellars, vineyard tours, typical products and music are ready to brighten up your late summer evenings.

In the middle of the month, the Douja d'Or animates the streets of Asti, celebrating wine with tastings, talks, meetings and shows.

Of course, there could not be a Wine Festival in Alba, which takes place on the last two Sundays of the month, an unmissable event for enthusiasts.

And of course there is no shortage of events dedicated to Piedmontese gastronomy: many festivals await you to immerse you completely in the culture of Piedmont.

There are really a lot of them, here we suggest a few, but there really is something for every taste.

In the first ten days of September you can delight your palate at the National Pepper Festival, in Carmagnola. A unique opportunity to taste this delicacy, which attracts people from all over Italy.

Summer ends and mushrooms appear! To enjoy this much-loved food in various ways you can choose between two events: the Mushroom Festival in Cossano Canavese, or Funghi in Piazza in Ciriè.

But Piedmont is also a land of cheeses: the Cheese festival in Bra is the perfect opportunity to discover all the local varieties.

For those who can't choose between one specialty and another, the Festival delle Sagre takes place in Asti on the second weekend of the month, a perfect opportunity to taste all the typical dishes of the Piedmontese tradition.

Yes, but what about dessert? Those with a sweet tooth will have something to delight their palate, just take a trip to Bruzolo, there's Tutto Miele in Bruzolo, or the Meliga Day of Sant'Ambrogio, which celebrates the famous meliga biscuits.

As we said, these are just some of the endless events that animate the region, brightening up the squares of its wonderful historic centers. The routine has started again, but this doesn't mean we have to lock ourselves in the house and sip a hot tea with a blanket: there will be time for that later, but, at least in September, we can still enjoy a few days of sun, dinners and concerts in the open air.
